Shohei Ohtani will be out for at least three weeks, until July, with a sprained elbow as he will be on the Los Angeles Angels’ DL. The news could not come at a worse time for LAA as they are 35-28, 3.5 games back of the second AL Wild Card spot.
Ohtani is a two-way star for the Angels as he is a pitcher and a designated hitter. He came over to the Halos this past offseason and has been one of the driving forces for the team’s resurgence.
As a hitter, Ohtani has six home runs, 20 RBI, and is fifth on the team with a .289 batting average. “Sho Time” has been used sparingly as a pitcher in a little over 46 innings of work, but he has dazzled on the mound. He is 4-1 with a 3.10 ERA and 61 strikeouts.
The young Angels star will be re-evaluated in three weeks and he could be out longer should there be any time needed for rehab.
