Unfiltered Access will be highlighting the stories of the Rochester Red Wings and their opponents on their journey this season. Unfiltered Access will be providing exclusive interviews, prospect updates, and a breakdown of the triple-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins.
Overview
The Wings managed to get to .500 going into a weekend series against the New York Yankees triple-A affiliate Scranton/Wilkes Barre RailRiders. The 35-35 Wings have struggled mightily as of late, especially at home as the bats have been nearly non-existent. Despite the lack of pop at the plate, the Wings have still received strong pitching performances including a lights-out start by Zack Littel on June 22. Littel settled in after walking the first batter of the game to go 6.2 innings of shutout baseball. The right-hander’s era on the season would drop down to 3.05.

Former Minnesota Twins Minor League Player of the Year, Zack Granite, has seen his playing time take a dip. The lack of playing time can be related to his struggles at the dish and notable Minnesota Twins gold-glove center fielder Byron Buxton joining the Wings on a rehab assignment. Granite had 175 plate appearances without an RBI coming into June 22nd. Pinch-hitting for Buxton in the 10th inning, Granite finally broke through with his first RBI of the season, securing a Wings 2-1 walk-off win over the Syracuse Chiefs.
