With most sports consisting of male players, sometimes, the female sports superstars can be over looked whether it is lack of TV air time or knowledge, but it is time to shed some light on these female athletes as we will be looking at the five best female athletes that dominate the game today.

Serena Williams

One of the more popular female athletes, tennis star Serena Williams has definitely made her name known around the world. Being in a league with a twin sister, Venus, Serena grew to popularity with a more sibling rivalry in the National Tennis League. Serena has been ranked number one over 300 times throughout her career and has gone 23-6 in the Women’s Grand Slam Singles! Her most recent victory was in 2017 where she won the Australian Open.

With stats and numbers like those, it is clear to see that Serena has not only bested her sister in the NTL, but is also a female icon in the sports industry.

Ronda Rousey

Ronda “Rowdy” Rousey has built quite a name for herself in the UFC world. Throughout her entire four-year career, Rousey has gone 12-2 in the Women’s Bantamweight class. Most of her victories only consisted of one round, with three knockdowns and three submission victories.

There are rumors that the American fighter could be making a return to the WWE as she stated that she “loves this more than she thought she would,” Rousey stated. With her impressive resume as a fighter and now entertainer in the WWE, Rousey has become one of the more memorable and well-known female athletes in the world.

Lindsey Vonn

When its that time of year where the Winter Olympics come around, Lindsey Vonn has certainly taken the spotlight as one of the best female athletes to take that stage. The Olympic Alpine Skier has won three medals, two bronze and one gold, in the Olympics and has seven medals in the World Championship with two gold medals, three silvers and two bronze medals.

What makes her so dominant is that she always appears to be placing very high in terms of medals and Olympic participation, which shows her as a highly prominent athlete to crush the competition.

Simone Biles

Another Olympic dynamo, Biles has certainly built a name for herself in the Olympic gymnastics world. In the 2016 Rio Olympics, she won four gold medals and one bronze medal! Absolutely insane stats for a 19-year old! In terms of World Championships, she’s won 10 gold medals, two silver medals and two bronze medals, for a total of 14 medals! To top all of this, she’s accomplished all that in a matter of three years! Absolutely crazy!

It is very clear to see that she is one of the most dominant female athletes to surface as seen by all her accomplishments in such a very short time and at such a young age, which could also mean that we possibly haven’t seen all that Biles can do. Regardless, it is going to be thrilling to see what more she can accomplish in her already shot career as a professional gymnast.

Bethany Hamilton

If this name doesn’t ring a bell, then you may remember the 2011 movie ‘Soul Surfer‘ about the girl who lost her left arm in the tragic shark attack, well this is that girl and she has become quite the story. After the accident, many didn’t think that she would be able to surf again, but boy were they wrong!

Despite her not winning any major titles in the world, she can still be seen as a dominant athlete as she as overcome so much in her life and to continue doing what she loves, shows her determination and high amount of skill she has as a professional surfer.
