If you are a fan of a certain athlete or team, make sure Drake is not repping your favorite team or player because luck will not be on their side.
Just earlier this month we saw the Canadian mogul roll with Conor McGregor before he entered the ring with Khabib Nurmagomedov. We saw exactly how that went for CMG. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first, and it won’t be the last, Drake has been present for someone’s loss.
Here are some other moments where Drake has given a team or player the vote of death:
Back in 2013, Drake became the global ambassador for the Raptors and since then he has been one of the most avid fans. He has been to nearly every home game as he has developed a reputation for talking trash to the opposing players and teams. However, one time his talking bit him and the Raptors in the butt.
In the Eastern Conference Semis against the Cleveland Cavaliers this past season, the NBA warned Drake to tone it down with the trash talking as he got into a verbal altercation with Cavs’ player Kendrick Perkins. It got so heated that Drake even called Perkins an offensive word.
This could have been seen as the nail in the coffin for the Raptors season as the Cavaliers would end up sweeping them for the second straight year.
The 2014-15 Wildcats men’s basketball team is one team to remember, winning an insane 38 games while being led by players such as Karl Anthony-Towns, Andrew and Aaron Harrison, Willie Cauley-Stein, and Devin Booker just to name a few.
The team was one game from reaching the NCAA Tournament’s championship game, but fell short against Wisconsin. Drake was supporting the team that entire season and even lost $6,000 in a bet he made against rapper The Game.
Back in 2015, Serena Williams lost at the U.S. Open to Roberta Vinci. At the time, Williams was on the verge of being the sixth player to win all four Grand Slam titles in one year, but that all came crashing down.
Many point the blame to no other than Drake as he was in attendance at the match and was shown supporting Williams. There were even photos of them spending time together.
Now this one can be many different factors. People will say that Manziel didn’t take the game seriously when he got to the pros or that it was because he played for the Cleveland Browns. Johnny Football’s NFL career is one that was short lived.
Manizel was one of the most watched players in college as he was a superstar playing for Texas A&M. He was entertaining with his arm and feet which is why he won a Heisman.
Some will point the finger to Drake as to why Manziel’s career was a total flop. In Drake’s song “Draft Day”, he dedicated a few verses to Manizel. In one line he stated, ” Draft Day, Johnny Manizel. Five years later how am I the man still.”
Manziel only played a total of 14 games during his NFL career and is currently playing in the CFL.
When it comes to Drake and sports, the combination is never a good mix. So, if you see Drake make a tweet or post in favor of your favorite team or player, be very weary.
