Analyzing Green Bay and Kansas City’s Divisional Wins

The Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers are one win away from reaching the Super Bowl. The Chiefs are facing the Tennessee Titans. The Packers are facing the San Francisco 49ers in a rematch of the 1997 NFC Championship.

Kansas City is looking to avenge their loss last year in the AFC Championship and reach the Super Bowl for the first time since 1969. The Packers are looking to reach the Super Bowl for the first time since 2010. It’s possible that the NFL may see a rematch of the very first Super Bowl game; Kansas City vs Green Bay.

The Chiefs showed a very unique sense of resiliency in their divisional win against the Houston Texans. Based on the brilliant Chiefs performance led by Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs are now a true Super Bowl contender if they aren’t already.

The Texans immediately took control of the game, managing to build a 24-0 lead early in the second quarter. However, the Chiefs soon turned the tables when in less than ten minutes, they scored four unanswered touchdowns. Kansas City soon made it 41 unanswered points, and Houston put one more touchdown, but it had no effect on the Chiefs. Once the Chiefs began to roar back, Houston became disoriented and Kansas City took advantage.

A final score of 51 to 31. As a result, the Chiefs are the first team to win a playoff game by 20 points after trailing by 20 points. Five touchdowns for Mahomes and a total of 434 total yards for Kansas City. On the other hand, Deshaun Watson finished with two touchdowns and Houston had 442 total yards.

Early miscues allowed Houston to dominate early, however, soon Houston began making mistakes that allowed Kansas City to gain control. After the first quarter, the Chiefs outscored the Texans 51-7. Kansas City’s high-powered offense eventually became too much for Houston.

Green Bay was taking on Seattle at Lambeau Field. The Packers had no intention of ending their season at home. Aaron Rodgers and the Pack are coming off a brilliant regular season. Missing the playoffs in 2017 and 2018 is a tough pill to swallow. The Packers are redeeming themselves.

The Packers wasted little time in taking control. Going into halftime with a 21-3 lead, it seemed that the Pack had the game in the books. However, the Seahawks managed to comeback from a 28-10 deficit to make it 28-23 only to be denied by Aaron Rodgers and the Pack. In addition, the connection between Rodgers and Davante Adams was too much for the Seahawks defense. Even though Seattle showed great resiliency, the Packers had resiliency of their own.

Russell Wilson‘s best efforts put Seattle back into the game, but the Packers were ultimately too much for the Seahawks. Green Bay just took advantage and won the game.

The AFC and NFC Championship games are set to take place on January 19th. Tennessee’s run has been wild and it could get wilder. Green Bay, on the other hand, is becoming a success once again. The Chiefs are hungry to win their first title in 50 years. San Francisco, on the other hand, wants to become the third team to win six Super Bowl titles.

One thing’s for sure, all four remaining teams are motivated and eager to win the National Football League’s ultimate prize.
