What Does Winning The Super Bowl Mean For The City of Kansas City?

For the first time in 50 years, the Kansas City Chiefs are Super Bowl Champions. After so many years and decades of waiting and wondering the dream finally becomes a reality. It’s only two seasons into the era of Patrick Mahomes and it may be safe to say that it’s the dawn of a Chiefs dynasty. In other words, the Mahomes and the Chiefs are just getting started.

Mahomes is the first quarterback from a Texas College to win the Super Bowl. His 12 total touchdowns in this postseason, including in the Super Bowl are the most all-time in postseason play. In addition, Mahomes is the youngest quarterback to be named Super Bowl MVP. Furthermore, Mahomes is the second player in NFL history to win the NFL MVP award and a Super Bowl in his first three years. The other player is Kurt Warner.

Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid came into the game as the winningest coach in NFL history to not win a championship. This was his second appearance in the Super Bowl. In his tenure as the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, he took them to Super Bowl XXXIX in 2004 where the Eagles lost to the New England Patriots. In Reid’s case, it took him 21 years to win his first title, which is the longest wait in history. The wait is over as Super Bowl LIV belongs to him and the Chiefs.

What Does This Victory Mean For The City Of Kansas City?

About four and a half years ago, the Kansas City Royals won the World Series for the first time since 1985. However, since then, the Royals have been declining, missing the playoffs every year since their World Series triumphant. In addition, in the last two years, the Royals have finished with more than 100 losses. Although the Royals have two championships, the organization’s overall history of mediocrity and disappointment hurts the city’s pride.

Furthermore, the fact that the city has no hockey or basketball team is a hard pill to swallow. Kansas City doesn’t have much to cheer for. Quite frankly, all they have at the moment is their football team.

Therefore, the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory brings happiness to the city. With the Chiefs on the verge of beginning a dynasty, there’s excitement for years to come. In other words, there’s a lot to look forward to in the future regarding the city’s football team. The city has waited a long time for their football team to win a Super Bowl.

The Chiefs bringing home their first title in half a century gives the city some excitement, pride, and hope. And the team’s future couldn’t brighter.
