On August 31st, 2017, Paris Saint-Germain signed Kylian Mbappe from AS Monaco. Signing on for a fee of €180 million, making him the most expensive teenager, as well as the second most expensive footballer in history. During that time, Mbappe was also beginning his career representing his native country of France in international duty. In other words, Mbappe’s career was only just beginning.
Mbappe has many accomplishments from the past three years. From helping France win its second World Cup title, breaking numerous records and helping Paris Saint-Germain conquer Ligue 1 and win several other French domestic titles. Known for his unique style of play, which includes high speed, incredible footwork, an ability to create scoring chances, dribbling, and providing assists. In addition, he’s popular for his ability to score goals.
Why Does He Need Out Of Paris Saint-Germain?
The competition in Ligue 1 is very scarce. Aside from the lack of competition is Paris Saint-Germain’s inability to succeed in the UEFA Champions League. Although PSG managed to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2019-2020 Champions League, it’s time for Mbappe to move on to a Ligue with better competition.
The 21-year-old forward already has a near endless list of accomplishments and still has a long career ahead of him. At this point, the time has come for him to move on to better things. He needs to go where there are bigger challenges for him and where he can improve as a player. In Mbappe’s case, it’s all about taking his talents to the next level.
For at least a year now, Mbappe has been linked with a transfer to Real Madrid. However, somewhere along with the way, Liverpool began pursuing Mbappe. Both Jurgen Klopp and Zinedine Zidane have expressed their desires to coach Mbappe. Klopp even reportedly called Mbappe’s Dad in an attempt to sign the forward. Zidane, on the other hand, claims that it’s Mbappe’s ‘dream’ to play for Real Madrid, especially since Mbappe considered Zidane to be one of his idols. For the moment, the transfer war between Real Madrid and Liverpool for the forward remains on hold amid the Covid-19 situation. It’s unclear when it will resume.
Which club is better suited for Mbappe?
First of all, it comes as a surprise that Liverpool is interested in Mbappe. With Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino on the attack, it would be difficult for Mbappe to fit in. It’s honestly unclear how he can fit in at Liverpool. The Premier League is definitely the place where competition is top form. However, since it’s unclear how Mbappe can work in Liverpool, it’s not the best place for him.
Since Cristiano Ronaldo‘s departure from the club, Los Blancos have not been able to find Ronaldo’s successor as the club’s superstar. Last summer, Real Madrid signed Eden Hazard, however, Hazard’s first season with Los Blancos has been plagued with injuries. Karim Benzema is still playing great, but the 32-year-old striker isn’t the future. Real Madrid needs young and rising talent. They need a player that can score goals, wreak havoc on opposing defenses, and dominate the pitch. Mbappe is a perfect fit. In addition, Zidane, Hazard, and Benzema can teach Mbappe a lot. Real Madrid is the perfect club for Mbappe.
PSG is looking to extend Mbappe’s current contract expires in 2022. With Mbappe continually improving as a player and doing great things on the pitch, his value will only increase, meaning that clubs will have no choice but to heavily invest in order to acquire his services. It’ll be interesting if three clubs begin to put offers on the table for Mbappe.
Realistically, it’s safe to say that Mbappe is likely to stay with his current club until 2021. With his high popularity, it’d be no surprise if at least five clubs pursue him.
